B&W Deck-Clearing Photoblogging

Alrighty, this is the last of the South Carolina pics (taken immediately post-nature-hike), so I should be ready to post some NJ & NYC pics soon.

Very lonely parking lot.

Air-raid sirens.

Mmm... barbed wire...

No, we did not go hiking on an army base...

Eli - some day I'll show you my So. Carolina pics. They're in color, and not nearly as creative as yours, but fun anyway.

Have a good New Year's. So glad I found your blog.

Not even close. I'll leave it up to the shadowy and mysterious Codename V. if she wants to chime in on what it is.

Thanks, shoe - I'm glad you foind my blog too. Hope you have a good New Year's as well.

You might want to try Flickr.com or Yahoo photos to post your SC pics - I have more here and here.

It's actually my old high school. There's a public nature trail behind it, which I helped build back in the early 90s as part of the Wildlife Club. When I went to school there, there wasn't any barbed wire. Or metal detectors. And you could say "I hate my teachers" without everyone thinking you might bring a gun to school. Things change...

V. had to make her own.

Looks like a neato hike. When I was a kid, we used barbed wire on the farm. I didn't realized there was an "ed" at the end of barb, for a very long time. I always heard it called barb wire.

when i went to school we hung out on the "grates" against the side of the building and bought and sold pot.

then we went back in the woods and smoked it, where mr. creameans, and mr. lawson would chase us around with walkie talkies.

it was all very silly.

wait, what i meant to say was your urban photos are much better than your nature photos.

i've been wanting to make some good urban photos for a while.

i have this excellent poster, it's just a parking lot, early morning, lamps burning yellow against a blue sky, yellow paint on gray asphalt, not a car to be seen. mundane in description, but a very powerful photo.

Heh, I'm surprised you remembered that.

I still do, sometimes - it's a strangely soothing hobby. I have loads of it stashed in my art drawer. I'll probably lose a finger to it one of these days.

Well, there is something...

Heh. I have a theory on why this is, that goes beyond my being an urban creature. I'll probably get into it when I start posting the latest NYC pics.

How could I forget something like that?

Well, high school certainly felt like Gitmo to me.

i look forward to hearing it, seeing them. just my observation, but your best photos have a very strong sense of geometry.
