This Surprises... No-One.

Cute little tidbit from Kos, by way of Atrios:
[From a College Republicans e-mail]

Incumbent Senator Joe Lieberman (Democratic Primary)
Lieberman is facing a tough primary fight versus far-left anti war activist Ned Lamont.
----------------------------------------------------------------
August 4-9th Primary Campaigning:

Elissa Harwood '09... has organized a series of buses departing on Friday August 4 from Washington DC... and NYC, destination: Hartford, CT

People interested in campaigning for Lieberman in the Democratic Primary will have lodging accommodations paid for (by his campaign), as well as food and transportation.

I hope Lamont's campaign is all over this. Not only is Joe accepting aid from the other team, but he's actually paying them for it. What better evidence do CT Democrats need that Joe is entirely too cozy with the Republican party and has no loyalty to his own?

Look, it's one thing for the College Republicans to come to CT to campaign for Joe because he's their favorite Democrat; there's nothing Joe could do to stop them. But not only does he not state unequivocally that their support is unwanted and unwelcome, but he actually facilitates it out of his own pocket. He is, in fact, making an in-kind contribution to the Republican Party, which can pass that savings along to, say, the Santorum campaign.

This is an eerie mirror image of the spectacle taking place here in PA, where the GOP is actively supporting the Green candidate for Senate, and the Green candidate is perfectly happy about it, much like Nader was in 2004.

I don't think it's unfair to judge a candidate by the company they keep. And any Democrat or Green who accepts aid from the Republican party is a witting, willing tool of their own party's destruction.

First, as much as I disliked both of the Nader runs we now know that vote suppression and the spineless dem reaction to it caused both of the presidential losses in 2000 and 2004.

Two, the Green Party wouldn't be such a danger had the DNC not funded a pro war, anti choice, anti stem cell candidate. Casey is just a terrible candidate. I mean, he's a great republican, but he doesn't represent the base of the party. Period.

I actually understand and agree with most of that. But it doesn't make the Green any less of a willing tool, and it destroys the Greens' credibility by making them eager catspaws of the Republicans. But yes, it would be nice if the Dems didn't make it so damn *easy*.

Actually, I want the Greens to try to win! Not be a spoiler...

I wouldn't mind the Greens winning either. But not with Republican money or muscle. And we both know that the Republicans would never give them a cent if they thought they had any chance in Hell of winning.

The irony would be truly delicious, but it ain't happenin'.
