Joe. Must. Go. NOW.

He's not even pretending to be a Democrat now:
Because nobody could have predicted it — Joe Lieberman will be campaigning with GOP candidates Jodi Rell and Rob Simmons today at the Groton sub base (the one that Holy Joe claims to have singlehandedly saved). Simmons, you’ll remember, is the GOP candidate running against Democrat Joe Courtney for one of those hotly contested Connecticut House seats. You know, the ones where the Democrat is supposed to be helped by Lieberman’s indy bid, right?
This is completely, utterly unacceptable. This is Joe Lieberman, who claims to be a "petitioning Democrat" (whatever that means), actively campaigning against a Democratic majority. This goes waaaay beyond "bipartisanship" or "centrism" or any of those other cute little DLC codewords for kicking the ball into your own net.

Joe has made it crystal clear where his allegiance lies, just as Zell Miller did when he delivered the keystone address at the 2004 Republican convention. He is all but daring Harry Reid to strip him of his seniority, and all but daring Chuck Schumer and other prominent Democrats to actively campaign against him.

I really, really do not know what they're waiting for. Is Rahm Emanuel on the phone screaming at Schumer and Reid, or is he shaking his head, chuckling ruefully and saying, "Oh, that Joe - what a scamp! Who knows what wacky idea he'll come up with next?" Someone needs to deliver a figurative horse's head to Joe's figurative bed, and soon.

I can honestly say that I thought Lieberman was sleaze years ago, and I'm pretty sure I used to ask my ex "Why doesn't Lieberman just get it over with and become a Republican?" on a regular basis.

If Schumer and Emmanuel and Reid don't kick his sanctimonious ass out of the party post-haste, I'm going to be very disappointed, and that's saying something at this late date.

I had no idea who he was until 2000. I started out underwhelmed, and it's been steadily downhill ever since.

I know I definitely hated his guts by the time he ran for prez (snort!) in 2004.

At the risk of sounding like a concern troll, I've read that this was an anniversary party for saving the military base.

Then again, Leftover Joe knows who his benefactors are, and any day in front of a camera is a victory for Democracy!

I said Democracy, mother[radio edit]s!!

I hope you're right, Rip. I wonder if it's kind of a nod-nod, wink-wink kinda thing, where he shows solidarity with them and says nice things about them, without explicitly campaigning for them.

Anyone protesting their Democratic bona fides as desperately as Joe should just stay the hell away from Republicans, IMHFO.

Here is an idea. When it gets close to the election Joe will say, 'I'm pulling out to the election and throwing my support to Lamont. I decided to keep the race going so that the republicans couldn't field a stronger canidate.
I feel bad that I had to fool so many people until now, but I realized that if I dropped out after the primary I wouldn't have been able to sucker Karl Rove and his team into supporting me until the last minute with my ju jitsu move.

What do you thing?
