Cognitive Dissonance? What Cognitive Dissonance?

A week after writing a great column about how our terrible foreign policy is making us hated around the world, David Ignatius returns to the wank mines with a rave review of Condi's brilliant performance as Secretary of State. Oookay.

High praise indeed:

Colleagues say... that she's as good at administering her own agency as she was bad at coordinating interagency disputes when she was national security adviser.

If only everyone in the Bush administration could be as competent in their second term as they were incompetent in their first...

I'll never see what anyone sees in Condi. She's mediocre at best

Truly weird timing. I couldn't sleep last night and spent some time idly trying to figure out what exactly Condi was going to be remembered for -- besides the shoe thing.

I couldn't come up with a damn thing. Has she done anything? Negotiated anything? Stepped in a helped solve any crises? Promulgated any policy initiatives?

Jack. Shit.

Condi has been liberally (heh) sprinkled with the same Magic Pixie Dust that makes people believe that Bush is a stalwart, courageous hero who bestrides the Earth like a colossus.

Condi is deep into the Bushworld and has lied like crazy along with the rest; she is as deluded and monomaniacal as Bush. Academically smart person, driven, obsessed with playing God just like Bush - she said he was out from the start to "redesign the greater Middle East" in her testimony to the Senate Committee for Foreign Affairs on October 19, and she does not shrink from gambling with world peace any more than the rest of BushCo. Running the country (into the ground) must be headier than tenure.
