Inaugural Parade/Spiffy New Camera Photoblogging

Well, I wasn't sure exactly how I was going to break in my new Nikon D200, when lo and behold, what should appear a few blocks away but a St. Patrick's Day parade! I'm not really a big fan of parades, but they do present some decent photographic opportunities.

I'm very pleased with the camera overall. Picture quality is sharp, the camera does an excellent job with color (although the flesh tones could be a little warmer), the rapid-fire continuous shooting mode is impressive. I think even the black & white shots look a little better. Also, I love the USB 2.0, which lets me download the photos about four times faster.

Bored Perry High School drummer. Pretty sure they had to wait at least another hour after I passed them - no wonder she's flipping me off.

Look out! The Daughters of Hibernia are escaping! They mean to gorge themselves on human flesh!

Some young Irish dancers preparing to perform. I am unfamiliar with this particular face-touching ritual - must be an Irish thing.

I've been banned from Eschaton.

I didn't do anything.

Why are people like shoelimpy/annie and dith allowed on and I've been banned?

I think a whole bunch of people have been caught in the crossfire of Atrios (presumably) trying to ban somebody. Woody and smalfish are banned as well, that we know of.

Have you e-mailed Atrios?

Eli,

Your pixs are great.

Sorry to hear that Terry C has been banned.

Eli:

I have e=mailed him several times.

No answer.

I've also posted on several Atriots' blogs about this situation, hoping they'd know what was up.

I can't post on Eschaton but I can get on to read other posts. Some of the comments made about me are...er, interesting, to say the least.

I wound up shattering the display screen of my old Sony Cybershot, so I bought a D-50. Care to show me how to use it?

Terry - Based on some of Atrios's comments, it sounds like you got caught in the crossfire. But he really emphatically didn't want to talk about it.

Froth - Sure, why not. How much detail you want?

I just got a D50 for Valentine's Day, and I love it. My cats, on the other hand, have been seen whispering together in small groups and I can only assume that they're planning some "how can we get that #*%$*#@&^ camera into the bottom of the litter box?" atrocity.
